More About the Urgent Care Industry.

The urgent care clinic industry recently has experienced major growth and is increasingly being recognized by patients and the medical community as the best answer to the long waits and high costs of emergency room visits. In fact, in 2009, The Joint Commission began an accreditation program and the Urgent Care Association of America launched a certification program - each establishing strict criteria for recognizing and officially designating outstanding urgent care centers.

While the ER or a primary care physician certainly can handle any of the services that a Care One of Florida urgent care clinic offers, you'll see a major difference in the time you'll wait to be treated and in the costs you'll pay. Overuse of America's emergency rooms for treatment of non-emergent medical conditions is a major driver of time and costs. Because ER physicians are obligated to treat patients needing true, emergent care for conditions like heart attacks and major head trauma first, a patient with a non-emergent, urgent care need must wait - an average of nearly four hours according to surveys of emergency departments nationwide. Plus, ERs are very expensive to operate, so big costs are passed down to patients. In fact, more than half of Florida's some 200 ERs report average per-visit fees of at least $2,500.

By comparison, a new patient visit to a Care One of Florida urgent care center starts at $95 and returning patients pay a base of $75 per visit. And because your health won't wait, we offer extended evening and weekend hours: 9am-8pm on weekdays, 9am-5pm on weekends.
